flick of the tail

a compact creature gathers itself beneath one great curved sweep — tail, horn, or wave — rising to a fine point. Movement compressed into a single gesture.

Description

flick of the tail is built around one decisive stroke: a thick, tapering curve that rises from the huddled body below and whips to a needle-fine tip high above. Everything else — the lashed eye, the patterned fins, the clustered rounds — gathers in the shadow of that gesture.

The piece captures the instant of departure: a creature turning, tail snapping behind it, gone before the eye fully registers what it saw.

The generous white space around the form amplifies the sense of motion, leaving room for the gesture to ring like a struck note.
